Software Engineer building products at scale.
Gurusabarish — I've been at Zoho for a few years now, working on the CRM for Everyone features in Zoho CRM. Before that, I was the intern who built chatbot UIs and scraped the web. I also maintain hugo-profile, if you've seen it around.
About me
A bit about what I do.
I work at Zoho as a Member Technical Staff, mostly on Zoho CRM's CRM for Everyone features — the Next-Gen UI, Teamspaces, and Grid View. I work across the stack on it.
Before Zoho, I did internships at Codebugged AI (built a chatbot UI and a web scraper) and OntoBorn Technologies (shipped a college management system for a client). My summer internship at Zoho turned into a full-time role, which is how I ended up here.
On the side, I built hugo-profile — a Hugo theme for developer portfolios. It kind of took off. 1,000+ stars on GitHub, 570+ forks, and people still use it regularly. I maintain it when I can.

Experience
Where I've worked and what I did there.
Got promoted from trainee to full-time. Now own the Teamspace, Next-Gen UI, and Grid View features inside Zoho CRM.
- Taking ownership of Teamspace, Next-Gen UI, and Grid View — responsible for the full lifecycle of these features across frontend and backend
- Designed and implemented a major Teamspace enhancement involving significant backend DB and logic changes to align with internal standards
- During CRM for Everyone's early access stage, we'd receive thousands of feature-enable requests that required manual customer data retrieval. Automated the entire process using shell scripting, saving major time for the team
- Implemented Grid View — a new module view inside Zoho CRM. Heavy client-side work. During development, refactored the legacy client-side code to align with current standards
This is where I started working on Zoho CRM. Got to build real features that actually shipped to the entire user base.
- Started as part of the team revamping Zoho CRM's previous UI. Implemented the Next-Gen UI using JavaScript and Zoho's internal frontend framework
- After the Next-Gen UI shipped, got assigned to the Teamspace feature. Implemented core backend logic and APIs for Teamspaces using Java and Spring Boot
Short summer stint at Zoho. Built a recruitment management system and did well enough that they brought me back as a Project Trainee right after.
- Implemented a recruitment management system using Django, React, and REST APIs
Remote internship. Built a college finance management system from scratch and delivered it to a client.
- To cut maintenance costs, we went with AWS serverless architecture — pay-per-usage model, no servers to manage
- Used AWS Amplify for deployment, Lambda functions for backend logic, DynamoDB for storage, and AWS AppSync (GraphQL) for the API layer
- Designed the DB schema and implemented all the functionality to manage a college's finances — student fee payments, expenses, reporting
- Built the frontend in React, wired up to the serverless backend
Worked on SWAR — a chatbot + CRM product. My first real internship. I handled the UI, database, and server side. The ML part was done by other teammates.
- Implemented the platform's UI using Bootstrap, HTML, and CSS
- Designed and implemented the database and server layer using Python's Django framework and PostgreSQL
- Built a web scraper using Beautiful Soup to extract data from customer-provided websites — the scraped data was used to train the chatbot's conversational layer later
GURUSABARISHKUMAR A did an amazing job as an SDE Intern on a recent project. The collaboration was very smooth. He is a productive and multi-skilled person with vast knowledge. He is self-motivated and deadline-oriented. His energy to make things happen was contagious and it helped us achieve great goals.
I built hugo-profile as a side project and it grew into one of the more popular Hugo themes out there.
- Created hugo-profile — a Hugo theme for developer portfolios. It's at 1,000+ stars and 570+ forks now
- Shipped 4 major versions so far. Added multilingual support, accessibility fixes, SEO stuff — mostly based on what people asked for in issues
- Still gets 200+ downloads a week. I review PRs from about 20 contributors

Projects
Some things I've built — at work, during internships, and on my own time.
hugo-profile
A Hugo theme for developer portfolios. I built it because I needed one and the existing options weren't great. Other people seemed to agree — it's got 1,000+ stars and still gets 200+ downloads every week.
College Finance SaaS
A serverless app for managing college finances — budgets, payments, reports. Built on AWS with React and GraphQL. No servers to maintain.
SWAR — Chatbot + CRM
A chatbot + CRM product I worked on during my Codebugged AI internship. I built the chatbot UI, the database and server layer, a web scraper using Beautiful Soup to extract training data from customer websites, and the deploy panel for embedding the chatbot.
Vaccine Availability Notifier
Built this during COVID. It checks vaccine slot availability every 5 minutes and sends you an email when something opens up. Simple Python script, but it was useful when slots were impossible to find.
Image Converter
Converts images between formats — PDF, PNG, JPG, WebP. Django app, no database needed. Just upload, pick a format, and download.
